Where’s the cliché that love conquers all? Stacked with the rest of them down at the mall Buy it today before your chance is lost Today it’s on special! We’ll sell it at cost When you are done with it bring it back in There’s always a sucker who’ll buy it again
Refrain
Oh, Oh, the folly of knowledge Oh, Oh, the folly of pride Oh, Oh, the folly of wisdom That does not come from the voice deep inside
He knows the story he wrote in his head He knows the pain of a love that is dead Under the armor that gleams in the light He’s just a peasant with no will to fight But he won the damsel and swept her away And now he just prays for the end of the day
Refrain
Is there a love that will never end? Is there someone who is lover and friend? Is there enough mercy for this craven soul? Can it be Jesus can still make us whole? This is the hope that keeps love in our eyes This is the fire that never dies.
Refrain

Should something like this be written down? Have you ever read the Psalms nobody quotes? They aren't all happy. The truth is that we are all flawed people trying to make it in a flawed world. If this was ever put to music and became your favorite tune, I'd suggest that you find help, but I think there is value in being real. There is value in letting the world know that there is hope even when one feels hopeless. That truth is often spoken so tritely that it is ignored. I wanted to say it in a way that feels real. To my beloved wife who may some day read this, know that I love you now and forever. This is not a commentary on the current state of our relationship.
