Alone at Last

Here we are, Lord—Finally! Alone at last!
Now that The Crisis has safely passed
No longer distracted I look up to see
You softly smiling, waiting for me.

Waiting for me to seek Your face
Waiting for me to acknowledge Your grace
Waiting for me to open the door
Waiting to say “Lord, it’s YOU I adore!”

But other things are just more important, you see
A suffocating parade of urgency
Swirling about with sound and fury
While the still small voice whispers “Fear not! Don’t worry!”

Fear not that you might not get it all done
Fear not if you lose when you should have won
Fear not that you might never “be somebody”
‘Cause I made you “someone” just for My Glory.

So here, let Me help you! Your burden’s much too heavy
I long to Bless you (if only you’ll let me)
And that cross that you carry, Girlfriend! What were you thinking?
Lay it here—at my feet—and relax. Now let this sink in:

I’ve been waiting forever for you
You’re My child! And I love you! That’s eternally true
So be strong! And take heart! Cast off all your sorrow
I LOVE you yesterday, today, and especially tomorrow.
